Rep. Ilhan Omar Goes Off After Being Asked to Condemn Female Genital Mutilation

Reports have surfaced that female genital mutilation has been happening in communities in Minnesota and Dearborn, Michigan, very Muslim heavy communities.

When Rep. Ilhan Omar received a question about whether or not she condemns female genital mutilation, she became very angry. It seems the easy thing to do would have been to say, "Yes, I condemn it." But that's not the route she took.

It seemed as if it was beneath her to answer the question. She didn't even answer the question. Watch below.

Omar Refuses to Condemn Female Genital Mutilation

Omar: “Should I make a schedule? Like, does this need to be on repeat every 5 minutes? Should I be like, ‘so, today I forgot to condemn Al-Qaeda, so here’s the Al-Qaeda one. Today I forgot to condemn FGM so here it goes. Today I forgot to condemn Hamas so here it goes.’ It is a very frustrating question that comes up. You can look up my record. I’ve voted for bills doing exactly what you are asking me to do.”

No, she doesn't need to make a schedule. Just condemn it one time and that would be fine.

This is very similar to when former President Barack Obama refused to say Islamic terrorists. All he had to do was say it one time to dispel the notion he was avoiding it. But he absolutely refused to do so.

It's not unfathomable that these Muslim heavy communities would take part in these types of activities. Despite her describing the question as ones that “come to an accusation that we might support something so abhorrent, so offensive, so evil, so vile.”

All she had to do was answer the reporter's question. Instead she decided to make a scene.

It's not that hard, Omar. Just answer the question and we can move on.

She is already being targeted for all types of fraud. Obviously the different issues she is facing are mounting on her and causing frustration. Internal emails show that her staff is worried about the marriage sham accusations. So she took it on this reporter.
